Select edible oil prices rose by Rs 50 per quintal at the wholesale oils and oilseeds market today on fresh buying by vanaspati millers and retailers amid a firm global trend.
However, non-edible oils held steady in limited deals.
Traders said increased buying by vanaspati millers and retailers and a firm global trend as palm oil output in Malaysia fell by the most in eight years after floods hit plantations, mainly influenced the sentiment.

Meanwhile, palm oil rose 0.6 per cent to 2,361 ringgit (USD 664) a metric tonne on Bursa Malaysia Derivatives.
In the national capital, groundnut mill delivery (Gujarat) oil rose by Rs 50 to Rs 8,400 per quintal.
Taking positive cues from global markets, soyabean refined mill delivery (Indore) and soyabean degum (Kandla) oils moved up by Rs 50 each to Rs 6,900 and Rs 6,600 per quintal, respectively.
Palmolein (rbd) and palmolein (Kandla) oils followed suit and enquired higher by a similar margin to Rs 6,050 and Rs 5,850 per quintal, respectively.

Vanaspati Ghee (15-litre tin) 940-1,080.
Edible oils: Groundnut Mill Delivery (Gujarat) 8,400, Groundnut Solvent Refined (per tin) 1,350-1,400, Mustard expeller (Dadri) 7,900, Mustard Pakki Ghani (per tin) 1,250- 1,300, Mustard Kachi Ghani (per tin) 1,300-1,400, sesame mill delivery 7,700, Soyabean Refined Mill Delivery (Indore) 6,900, Soyabean Degum (Kandla) 6,600, Crude Palm Oil (Ex-Kandla) 4,250, Cottonseed Mill Delivery (Haryana) 5,750, Palmolein (RBD) 6,050, Palmolein (Kandla) 5,850 and Coconut (per tin) 2,550-2,600.
Non-edible oils: Linseed 8,350, Castor 9,750-9,850, Neem 5,350-5,450.
