A 65-year-old man was shot dead by two men riding a motorcycle in Rani Bagh area of North West Delhi, police said today.

According to the police, the deceased was identified as Jai Narayan Gupta who was sitting at his electrical shop in the area when two unidentified men came on a bike and pumped bullets in his chest at around 8 pm last night and fled.

Narayan's elder son Manoj, who was on the first floor of the shop, heard the sound and thought it to be fireworks explosion, police said.

However, Manoj's wife, who had gone to the nearby market, saw Narayan lying in a pool of blood and raised an alarm. He was taken to a nearby hospital where he was declared brought dead, the official said.

Police said Gupta worked as a money lender and there might be money-related issue or personal rivalry which might be behind his murder. CCTV footages of nearby shops are being screened in a bid to identify the killers.
