A tanker collided head-on with an SUV on the National Highway-74 near Sherkot here, killing seven people and injuring four.
In the crash, the tanker fell into a 10-foot deep roadside ditch. The driver of the tanker, in his attempt to jump out of the falling vehicle, got crushed under its wheels, police said.
The SUV was returning from Kashipur to Laksar in Haridwar district from a wedding ceremony yesterday when the incident happened, they said.
The injured were rushed to the Bijnor District Hospital from where they were referred to Meerut. On the way, one injured person succumbed to his injuries.
