Seven women killed as tractor-trolley falls into KT dam

Seven women labourers were killed andnine of them seriously injured after the tractor-trolley in which they were travelling, fell into a KT-type dam (Kolhapur Type) at Dhavali-Vihir Shivar in Malegaon taluka of Nashik district this evening, police said.

The accident took place on the Dabhadi-Ajang road, at around 5.30 pm, after the driver of the tractor-trolley lost control of the vehicle and it jumped off the road and fell into a small dam, a police official attached to Vadner-Khakurdi police station said.

The women labourers were returning to their home in Ajang-Vadel village after working inan agriculture fieldnear Ravalgaon, said police.
 

The locals started rescue operation after hearing the cries for help of some women. Later fire-brigade personnel and police fished out the bodies and also rescued some women, said police.

The tractor-trolley was carrying 24 women labourers, said police.
