Five constables of Shamli district excise department has been suspended for alleged negligence of duties following the death of five people after drinking spurious liquor, an official said.
On August 21 five people died and nine fell ill after consuming spurious liquor at Kamalpur village.
The action against the five constables was taken last evening after a preliminary inquiry found them negligent of their duties, district excise officer R B Singh said.
