Taking positive cues from global markets, silver prices traded sharply higher by Rs 512 to Rs 40,121 per kg in futures trade today.
Silver for delivery in far-month May rose by Rs 512, or 1.29 per cent to Rs 40,121 per kg in busines turnover of 230 lots on the Multi Commodity Exchange.
In a similar fashion, the metal for delivery in March rose by Rs 457, or 1.17 per cent to Rs 39,485 per kg in 11,154 lots.

Analysts said silver futures gained as speculators created positions following a firming global trends.
Meanwhile, silver rose by 1.9 per cent to USD 18.02 an ounce, the highest since September 19 in London.
