Six get life imprisonment for TDP leader's murder

A local court today awarded life imprisonment to six persons in connection with the murder of TDP leader Kanna Janardhana Rao in 2007.

Krishna District Additional Sessions Judge G Subramanym awarded the sentence to S Srinivasa Rao, V Srinivasa Rao, M Rambabau, V Suribabu, S Chanti and N Muralikrishna and also slapped a fine of Rs 3,000 on each one of them.

However, the court acquitted six other persons in the case.

According to the prosecution, the TDP leader, who was the president of Nagayalanka Mandal Prajaparishad at that time, was going to Edurumondi village in Nagayalanka mandal in Krishna district of Andhra Pradesh on July 3, 2007, when he was waylaid and hacked to death.
