Six killed, 13 injured in road mishaps in Bihar

At least six people were killed and 13 injured, one of them seriously, in two road mishaps in Bihar's Munger and Jehanabad districts, police said today.

Five persons, including three woman and a girl were killed and three others injured, one of them seriously late last evening when an LPG cylinder-laden truck hit the tractor trolley in which eight people were going to see a Dussehra fair in Munger district.

The incident occurred near Sindhiya village under Safiabad police station area of Munger district late evening, sub-divisional officer Kundan Kumar said.

A woman critically injured in the accident was referred to Patna Medical College and Hospital.
 

The dead were identified as residents of neighbouring Chharapatti village, he said, adding the cleaner of the truck has been arrested but the driver escaped.

Munger District Social Security Officer Ramanuj Prasad Singh said the families of each dead would get Rs 20,000 under Mukhyamanytri Pariwarik Labh Yojana (Chief Minister Family Welfare Benefit scheme).

In the other accident a 12-year-old boy was killed while 10 others injured late last night on NH 110 at Sikariya village in Bihar's Jehanabad district.

Sadar police station SHO Nagendra Singh said the incident occurred when a van collided head on with a car.

The identity of the boy is yet to be ascertained, the SHO added.
