The ruling Samajwadi Party today expelled its suspended MLA Rampal Yadav for a period of six years for his alleged involvement in anti-party activities.

"SP state president and Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav has expelled Sitapur MLA Yadav for a period of six years," party spokesman Rajendra Chaudhary said in a statement.

Earlier on January 4, Yadav was suspended while his son was expelled for their anti-party activities during panchayat polls in the district.

Yadav had fielded his son Jitendra for district panchayat chairman's post in Sitapur against party candidate Seema Gupta.

SP had earlier suspended MLA Ruchiveera from the legislature party, and expelled her husband Udayan Veera, former Member of Parliament Yashveer Singh as well as party leaders Jamil Ansari and Khalil-ur-Rehman.
