Squall hits parts of north-west Rajasthan

A fresh squall accompanied by thunder showers hit parts of north-west Rajasthan today with Ajmer recording a maximum rainfall of 2.9 mm.

Dust storm followed by thunder showers also affected normal life in Jaipur and adjoining sub-urban towns this evening, a MeT department official said.

Meanwhile, Churu recorded a maximum rainfall of 0.6 mm, Ganganagar 0.2 mm and Jaipur 2.0 mm.

Jhalawar was the hottest place in the state where mercury shot up to 40 degree C followed by Barmer 39.2 deg C , Kota 39 deg C, Chittorgarh 38.5 deg C and Jaipur 37.3 deg C.

A western disturbance and an upper air cyclonic system generated the squall conditions in north-west of the state, and it would continue in next 24 hours too, the forecast said.
