Sri Lankans warned against travel to Iraq

Sri Lanka today warned its citizens against travelling to Iraq in view of the deteriorating security situation in the violence-hit country.

"In view of the deteriorating security situation in Iraq, Sri Lankan nationals are strongly advised to exercise extreme caution in travelling to Iraq until further notice", a statement from the Ministry of External Affairs said.

The ministry further urged Sri Lankan nationals currently in Iraq to remain in contact with the Sri Lankan embassy in Baghdad.
