SSB beat Bihar Regimental Centre 3-1

The inaugural league match of the 4th 'Bihar Cup' All India football tournament saw Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB) team from Siliguri thrash Bihar Regimental Centre (BRC) Danapur 3-1 at the Moinul Haq stadium today.

The match also witnessed the first hattrick of the tournament.

The SSB team took lead in the 17th minute of the game with Bijeshor Singh sending the ball in the net.

The first-half ended 1-0.

In the second half, BRC trio of B Hembram, Birju Tudu and Swadesh Mandal made raids into the rival territory on a number of occasions but SSB custodian Atif Rasool stood as rock.
 

SSB, meanwhile, extended their lead as Bijeshor pumped in two goals in quick succession in the 45th and 55th minutes, to claim the first hattrick of the tournament.

In the 79th minute, BRC defender Ranadeep Das reduced the margin when his clearance shot landed in the opposition net.

Earlier, East Central Railway (ECR) General Manager A K Mittal inaugurated the 14-day tournament.

President of the organising committee and Bihar Minister for Food and Civil Supplies Shyam Rajak was also present on the occasion.
