Spiritual leader Sri Sri Ravishankar today advocated a strong and stable government of a single party majority, either Congress or BJP, to bail the country out from the present "very bad situation' and opposed a coalition government.

"It is very bad. A small country like Sri Lanka is growing at double digit of 11.5 per cent, while India has only 4.5 per cent growth, which is not acceptable. There is need for change and public and youth want this change to bail out the India, as the present policy is stagnant," he told reports when asked a specific question in this regard.

Stating that a weak government and administration was leading the country to policy paralysis, resulting in corruption and other ills, he said, the need of the hour is for a change to a strong and stable government, which alone would make the nation strong among countries "which want to see India weaker."

On his opposition to coalition governments, he said "the majority party heading it may not be able to perform due to pressure from small parties. So it was better to have a strong majority government of Congress or BJP."

Asked about the emergence of Aam Admi Party, he said "it is just a child" and a bigger responsibility cannot be given to it, though it has pledged to fight corruption.

He said the youth should be made responsible to run the nation by giving retirement to the old guards who have crossed 70 years of age, which would help India become a superpower.

"The country has to improve its relationship with the neighbouring countries, like Sri Lanka, since it would improve the economy and people-to people relations," he said.

On the issue of Sri Lankan Tamils and fishermen, he said there was a need to improve ties with that nation.

Ravishankar said he is not in a position to comment on the resolution against Sri Lanka on human right violations as he has not gone through it.

However his organisation Art of Living was fighting for the cause of getting citizenship to more than one lakh Sri Lankan Tamil refugees in India, he said, adding signature campaign was on in this regard.

Attributing increasing atrocities against women like rape to alcohol, he said his organisation is fighting for implementing prohibition across the country.

He ruled out plans to meet Chief Minister Jayalalithaa to seek prohibition in the state, "as Government itself was selling liquor.
