A ten-year-old boy was killed and his father gravely injured when they were hit by a truck while crossing the road violating traffic light on way to school in the central part of the city today, police said.
Mohammed Aziz, a student of Class one of St Stephen's School, came under the wheels of the truck and was crushed to death and his father critically injured when they tried to cross the crossing of Central Avenue and Ganesh Chandra Avenue at around 7.35 AM today violating traffic light, police said.
Aziz was rushed to Calcutta Medical College Hospital, where he declared brought dead.

"There were four to five children with Aziz but they managed to cross the road. This was a case of violation of traffic rule on the road," a Kolkata Police officer said.
The truck was seized and the driver arrested, the officer added.
