Senior advocate of Orissa High Court Surya Prasad Mishra would be the new Advocate General (AG) of the state.
The appointment of Mishra as the top law officer of the state was approved today by Governor S C Jamir after the government chose the 60-year-old lawyer, currently officiating as the president of Orissa High Court Bar Association.
The Constitutional post in the state was lying vacant ever since the former AG Asok Mohanty relinquished the post on September 12. He was arrested by the CBI in the chitfund scam a day after Mohanty's resignation was accepted by the state government.
