Suspect commits 'suicide' in police lock-up

A man held for theft was found dead in police lock-up near here this morning in what police said was a case of suicide.

The suspect, identified only as Basheer, was found hanging in the lock-up with ropes used in packing material at Madakasira town in the district, said police sources, who termed it as a case of suicide.

Basheer, a resident of Kallumari village, was detained for questioning in connection with a theft case.

Assistant Superintendent of Police Ram Prasad visited the police station and enquired about the issue.
