Two associates of suspected ISI agent Mohammed Zahir Hussain, arrested earlier this week, have been apprehended here by Tamil Nadu police.

Mohammed Salim (37), a local, and Siva Balan (39), a Sri Lankan national, were taken into custody last night, produced before a jurisdictional court today and remanded to 14 days judicial custody, police said.

The two have been arrested based on information provided by Hussain, a Sri Lankan national, arrested on April 29.

Salim and Balan have been living in Chennai for several years and during interrogation they told the police that they worked as commission agents for cirulating counterfeit currency, police said.

Both the arrested men were allegedly circulating fake currency at the behest of Hussain who used to pay them a commission of Rs.2,000 for selling fake currency whose face value in real currency terms would be Rs one lakh.
