: Workers of a fringe Tamil outfit staged a demonstration in front of the Kerala Samaj office here today in protest against that government reportedly building a check dam across the inter-state Bhavani river.
Police said about 25 activists of Thanthai Periyar Dravida Kazhakam (TPDK) raised slogans, but all of them were removed from the spot.
The activists noted that all major political parties and organisations had taken up the issue of dam construction, which they alleged would affect the flow of drinking and irrigation water for Tirupur, Erode and Coimbatore districts.

TPDK pointed out that a human chain had been formed some days back and members of various political parties and outfits had tried to cross over to Kerala to stage a demonstration at the site.
Tamil Nadu government has decided to file a suit in Supreme Court in this regard.
