A 38-year-old teacher of a government school in Durg district was arrested for allegedly raping a 16-year-old student by threatening to make her fail her in exams, police said today.
The incident occurred under old Bhilai station limits on February 1 when the teacher, identified as Praveen Kumar Banjare, allegedly raped the girl after finding her alone at her residence, they said.
According to police, Banjare used to visit the girl's house for taking tuitions.
A complaint was lodged with police after the girl confided with her parents about the incident, following which Banjare was arrested yesterday.
