Teenage girl raped in Birbhum district

A teenage girl was allegedly raped in Birbhum district while she was returning from a village fair, police said today.

The victim's father today lodged a complaint with the Nalhati police station alleging that his daughter has been raped by Ekramuddin while she was returning from a fair at Bhelian village last evening.

As his daughter was little behind her friends, Ekramuddin suddenly pounced on the girl and dragged her to a nearby bush and raped her, the complainant claimed.

Ekramuddin has been absconding, police said.
