Teenage girl stabbed in Virar

A 15-year-old student from Virar was today allegedly stabbed by a youth near her house, police said.

The incident took place this morning in Manvelpada locality of Virar when the victim Malti Ghanekar, a class 10 student was leaving for school, API N E Done of Virar police station said.

As per the complaint, the victim knows the accused who happens to be the cousin brother of another youth known to her.

Prima facie, the attack was a result of enmity between the two families, police said.

Meanwhile, the girl is undergoing treatment in a local hospital.

A case under relevant sections of IPC and Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act 2012, police said, adding efforts are on to nab the absconding accused.
