Maximum temperatures registered a minor dip in Gujarat, giving some relief to people from extreme heatwave conditions prevailing here for the past one week.

In Ahmedabad, maximum temperature remained at 42.5 degree Celsius today, which is almost two degrees less than yesterday's readings.

Similarly, other places in the state also recorded dip in temperature.

Surendrangar remained hottest in the state with 43 degree, while Gandhinagar became third hottest after Ahmedabad and Surendranagar with a maximum temperature of 42.3, which is a fall of almost two degrees.

Heatwave conditions also softened in Deesa (41.2), Vadodara (40.6), Rajkot (41.3) and Bhuj (40.0).

"Just like other parts of the state, the city's maximum temperature is also falling due to the approaching monsoon, resulting in gathering of moisture in the atmosphere. The monsoon has already hit the coastal areas of Karnataka. Thus, we believe that temperature may remain stable and will not rise once again in coming days" Director of the Ahmedabad- based MeT Centre Jayanta Sarkar said.

"We are keeping a close watch on monsoon activity. Though rains hit Gujarat by June 10 every year, it seems that it may get delayed this time," Sarkar said.
