Two separate cases of house breaking and theft were reported from a temple and a church in on the night between June 30 and July 1, the district police announced here today.
The district police said in an official release that the Jalaram Mandir on Dahanu's Malyan Irani Road was broken open and the cash in two cash boxes were stolen by thieves. They broke the remple's window grill and decamped with around Rs 15,000 in cash, the release stated.
In another incident, the Don Bosco Church at Manvelpada in Virar was broken open by robbers on the same night. Four cash boxes were broken and cash worth around Rs 15,000 was stolen, the release said.

Both the robberies happened at the same time between 9.30 pm on June 30 to 6.30 am on July 1, the release said.
The theft was observed in the morning when the temple priest and the church priest opened the gates and discovered the thefts. Complaints were lodged at the local police stations at Virar as well as Dahanu, the police said.
A manhunt has been lodged for the thieves but no arrest has been made so far, the police said.
