A priest was today found murdered with his throat slit inside his house within the temple premises at Singanallur in the district, police said.
A vendor, who delivered flowers daily to the priest, found the door of the house locked around 6.30 AM and informed the neighbours and police.
Police broke open the door and found the 45-year-old priest with slit throat and stab injuries on his chest, they said.
A 20 sovereign gold chain, usually worn by the priest, was missing, they added.
