Ten tribals killed as mine caves in

Ten tribals, including a minor girl, were buried alive when a limestone mine caved in at Turra village in the district today, police said.

Two women are still trapped under the debris and efforts are on to rescue them, they said.

The mishap occurred this afternoon when the labourers were working in a pit said to be 20-foot deep.

The deceased hailed from village Taagi Paachit.

The deceased have been identified as Mannulal (30), Phoolchand (27), Rajkumar (28), Ramkesh (28), Vinod (45), Surajdeen (35), Chanda (20), Kamlesh (27) Ram Rati (35) and a 15-year-old girl Radha.

In a similar incident on October 30 last year, three women were killed when a mine collapsed under the Nayagaon police station limits.
