TERI holds meeting with Arunachal officials for updates

Tata Energy and Resources Institute (TERI) has held a consultancy meeting with top ranking state officials here to have first hand information about the 'main barriers' in implementation of various projects in the state, as input for policies.

This is the fourth such meeting held by TERI after Odisha, Madhya Pradesh and Himachal Pradesh, institute's New Delhi-based Centre for Research on sustainable Building Science (Sustainable Habitat Division) Associate Director Pradeep Kumar informed during the meeting, an official communique said here today.

The state government official team was led by Chief Secretary Ramesh Negi.

Negi called for support in capacity building, problem assessment like the cause of reduction of fish output in state rivers and technical solutions to various teething problems of the state like non-availability of electricity, means of livelihood in border areas, methods to harness forest and water resources, biomass and development of efficient and clean energy available to the masses.
 

"Arunachal is evolving as a horticulture economy where TERI could extend support," Negi pointed out.

Enlisting the pollution of water sources and need for drinking water PHED commissioner Tajom Taloh sought sustainable projects to tackle these problems.

Kumar highlighted TERI's multifaceted activities including 'Green India 2047', taking up urban reforms, public transport waste management, green buildings, green rating system besides providing solution to energy conflict, infrastructure need, food security and formulating India's National Action Plan for Climate Change, the communique added.
