Three candidates remained in fray for the lone Lok Sabha seat in Nagaland after a scrutiny of nomination papers was conducted today.

Sources in the state Returning Officer's office said all documents of Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio of ruling Naga Peoples Front (NPF), former minister K V Pusa of Congress and Akhie Achumi of Socialist Party (India) were found in order.

Last date for withdrawal of candidature is March 26 while polling would be held on April 9.

Meanwhile, with the ongoing state assembly session, no political party officially launched its election campaign even as internal politicking was in progress.

Ruling NPF has decided to kick-off its campaign on March 27 from Dimapur while opposition Congress would be having AICC vice-president Rahul Gandhi on the same day at Kohima to woo voters for its candidate.
