Three IEDsunearthed in Chhattisgarh

Security forces today recoveredthree powerful Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs), allegedly planted by Maoists, from Chhattisgarh's insurgency-hit Sukma district, police said.

A joint team of security forces recoveredthe explosives, weighing 20 kg each, while carrying out an anti-Naxal operation under Kistaram police station area, Sukma Additional Superintendent of Police Santosh Singh told PTI.

A squad of Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) and Chhattisgarh Armed Force (CAF) were cordoning off areas near Kistaram CRPF camp, when they spotted electric wire connection in Velkanguda village forests. Following which theIEDskept in a steel container were found hidden beneath the earth, Singh said.

Explosiveswere defused by the bomb disposal squad, he added.
 

The explosive was planted to harm security forces during their operations on a strategically important location in the self proclaimed liberated zone of Maoists where paramilitary forces have its camp, the ASP said.
