Three persons were injured in a clash between two groups of the same community in Mahaban town here, police said today.

The trouble started late last evening when Salamuddin, an animal-trader, andChunnu Hazi, a rag-trader, had a minor altercation, Deputy SP Surendra Singh Yadav said.

The altercation led to a heated exchange of words and snowballed into brick-bating and arson.

Salamuddin's Max pickup van was set ablaze, he said.

The situation was brought under control as the DSP reached the spot with heavy police force and jawans of Provincial Armer Constabulary.

"While additional forces have been posted in the village, three persons received injuries and are hospitalised. Six persons have been arrested," Yadav said, adding since the two parties did not file FIR, police had to register an FIR.
