Three killed, 28 hurt in road mishap

Three people, including a minor, were killed and 28 others injured when a pick-up vehicle carrying the wedding party plunged into a drain in Balrampur district of Chhattisgarh, police said today.

The mishap occurred near Semarsot village under Balrampur police station, when a marriage procession was going from Larua to Aragahi village of the district last night, a senior police official said.

The vehicle's brakes reportedly developed snag because of which the driver lost control of the vehicle following which it fell into a drain, the official said.

"Ranjeet (30), Marhu (55) and Kaleshwar (17) were killed on the spot. One of the injured passengers has been admitted to Ambikapur hospital where his condition was stated to be critical," the official said.
 

The others injured were referred to a local hospital, the official added.
