Three medical students killed in road mishap in Puducherry

Three medical college students were killed, while another was injured when the car they were travelling in collided with a tanker lorry near here early today, police said.

All the four students pursuing medicine in a private medical college in Kirumambakkam near here, were proceeding to Chennai when a tanker lorry coming in the opposite direction collided with their car near Bommayarpalayam in the small hours today, resulting in the death of Thangakumaran from Kanyakumari, Arvind and Hariprasad from Chennai.

However, Balakrishnan sustained critical injuries and was rushed to the Puducherry government general hospital, police said.

The lorry driver fled the scene, they said adding a case had been registered and further investigation is on.
