Three women constables injured in stone pelting

Three lady constables were today injured after protesting auxiliary nurse midwives (ANM) resorted to stone pelting at Gardanibagh dharna asthal here, police said.

Close to 150 ANMs were sitting on a dharna demanding 'equal pay for equal work', Gardanibagh police station SHO Shardendu Sharad said, adding one of the protesters also received minor injuries.

ANMs resorted to hurling stones and slippers when police stopped them from entering the Bihar Assembly, Sharad said.

The SHO claimed that police did not resort to lathicharge and the protester was injured when a brick hit her during the stone pelting.

All the three lady constables have been administered first aid.
 

The police had sent an ambulance to take the injured ANM to the hospital for treatment, but she has refused, the SHO added.
