Tipper truck crushes man to death

A 50-year-old man died when a stone laden tipper truck ran over him at Dhobadi Patapur area under Ganjam districts Purushottampur police station limit, about 40 km from here today, police said.
The deceased was identified as Swaraj Behera of the same village. He was returning home after taking bath in a village pond when the accident occurred, said inspector in charge, Purushottampur police station, Ajaya Kumar Barik.
Angry villagers caught hold of the driver and staged a road blockade by keeping his body on the street.
The villagers demanded the vehicle owner should provide compensation to the family of the deceased and did not allow the police to take the body from the spot.
