TMC forms Old Malda Municiaplity board

Ruling Trinamool Congress formed the board of Old Malda Municiaplity in West Bengal today and its candidate Kartick Chandra Ghosh became its chairman.

Ghosh bagged 13 out of the total 20 votes to defeat his nearest rival Baishishtha Trivedi, an independent who secured seven votes.

Trivedi was supported by both BJP and CPI-M for the post.

In the civic polls held on April 25, TMC had won 10 seats, BJP 5, independents 3 and CPI-M 2.
