TN bizman booked for depositing fake Rs 1000 notes

A businessman has been booked on the charge of depositing fake scrapped Rs 1000 currency notes with a total face value of Rs 1.48 lakh in a nationalised bank here, police said.

Muthukumar, a cardboard and paper manufacturing unit owner, had deposited 150 Rs 1000 notes in the current account of his company and also in the account of one of his relatives.

When the cashier of the bank checked the notes, he found 148 notes to be fake, police said.

A case had been registered on a complaint from the bank officials.
