TN fishermen chased away by SL navy, fishing nets cut

Fishing nets of six boats of Tamil Nadu fishermen were allegedly cut by Sri Lankan naval personnel, who also chased away more than 400 fishermen off Katchatheevu islet today.

The Lankan naval personnel cut the nets and chased away the fishermen on charges of fishing in their territorial waters, Rameswaram Fishermen's Association President Sagayam said.

He urged the Centre to act on Sri Lankan navy's "atrocities" against Tamil Nadu fishermen.
