In a bid to reign in corruption, Haryana government has asked all Deputy Commissioners in the state to put up hoardings or flex boards at the offices of all "corruption-prone departments" prominently displaying the toll-free Vigilance helpline number.

The Deputy Commissioners (DCs) have been asked to install hoardings or flex boards in their jurisdiction that clearly indicate toll-free Vigilance helpline number 1064 and 1800-180-2022 along with telephone number and address of local state vigilance bureau unit, an official release said here today.

In addition, the State Vigilance Bureau has asked all the departments to send the complainant or convey confidential information or complaint, to the Bureau office so that prompt action could be taken to curb the evil of corruption, it said.

It has been observed that some complaints concerning demand of bribe were being conveyed by the general public to the senior officers of the department concerned, it said, adding the departments could not take effective legal action on these complaints unlike the Bureau.
