An attendant at Modipuram toll-plaza on Delhi-Dehradun Highway escaped unhurt after he was shot at by four unidentified youths during an altercation over the toll fee, police said today.

The incident occurred late Wednesday night at the toll plaza when an argument ensued between the victim, Bablu Som, and the four youths who had arrived in a car from Meerut side, over the impost, Daurala police station Inspector Janak Singh Pundir said.

Meanwhile, one accused then took out a rifle and fired at Bablu who escaped unhurt. The car sped away from the scene after the incident, he said.

On the basis of a complaint filed by Bablu, a case has been registered against the four youth, Pundir said, adding police is trying to identify the accused using CCTV footage.
