Following the removal of toll-tax on the Delhi-Noida-Delhi (DND) flyover, a trader's federation today staged a sit-in protest demanding scrapping of tax collected at the Dasna Plaza on the National Highway 24 here.

"The National Highway Authority of India (NHAI) had spent Rs 162 crores to construct the road and it has recovered the cost. Rather they have collected Rs 250 crores since 2002." Sanyukt Vyapar Mandal (SVM) media coordinator, Ashok Bhartiya claimed.

Protestors handed over a memorandum addressed to the District Magistrate to the Ghaziabad ADM on the issue.

Led by SVM, traders stalled operations of the toll plaza for more than an hour and vehicles passed the plaza without paying taxes.

"If the NHAI does not stop charging tax within a month traders will stage a strong protest in December," the SVM warned.
