Tribal infant dies

A two-week-old girl in the remote Attapady, one of the largest tribal belts in Kerala, has died due to respiratory issues.

The infant, born to Murugan and Suchitra of Thutttara Ooru in Puthur, weighed two kg at birth and had some breathing problems, health department sources said.

She was taken to the Coimbatore Medical College Hospital, where she died yesterday.

The woman had been admitted to a hospital on May six at the tribal super speciality hospital at Kollathara following pregnancy related problems.

The child was born of cesarean section and developed breathing trouble, the next day.

This year, seven new borns have died so far, including three in this month.
