Namdhari community members converged at the ritual to pay their respect to their departed guru, who had breathed his last on December 13.
Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal said that Satguru Jagjit Singh was a great personality, who during his entire life struggled for the uplift and welfare of humanity.
The Namdhari sect had work hard for the peace and tranquillity among the different sections of the society under the later guru's able leadership, Badal said.
Union Minister Pawan Kumar Bansal said that the Satguru had always been a source of inspiration for the whole society for his services to the mankind.
On this occasion, the new designated head of the sect Satguru Thakur Udhay Singh was installed as head of the sect.
Prominent among others who attended the ceremony included INLD chief Om Parkash Chautala.
