Truck driver arrested with poppy on J&K highway
Police Friday arrested a man after 15 kg poppy was recovered from his truck on the Jammu-Srinagar national highway in Ramban district.
The apple-laden truck headed towards Punjab was intercepted by the police at a checkpoint near Cafeteria More, they said, adding that the poppy was recovered from beneath the driver's seat.
The vehicle was seized and the driver-- Salam Din of Maler Kotla, Punjabwas arrested, they said.
A case was registered under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, police added.
