Two beaten up for protesting assault on women

Two persons were beaten up allegedly by a group of drunken young men when they protested against assault on two women at Fuliapara in Nadia district, police said today.

The incident occurred when a group of drunks riding motorcycles passed lewed comments and tried to pull out two women from an auto-rickshaw last night. As the relatives of the women protested, the auto driver and a relative of the woman were beaten up by the gang, police said.

Police detained one person.
