Two cops assaulted

A police inspector and a

constable were injured today when members of the two communities clashed in Lidhora town about 40-km away from here over a poll-related issue.

Police Station In-charge of Lidhora town, Dilip Pandey and constable Rajesh Kumar were injured when members of two communities clashed over a recently held assembly poll-related dispute.

Two members of Lodhi community, Dinesh and Guddan Lodhi today ordered members of the Khatik community to keep their shops closed on the issue of an ongoing dispute between them since the recent assembly elections, Tikamgarh Superintendent of Police (SP) Amit Singh told reporters.

When members of the community did not listen to their diktats, they came face to face over the issue.
 

However, when police intervened in the matter, Dinesh and Guddan attacked policemen, in which Pandey and Rajesh suffered serious injuries.

Both are admitted in the district hospital, police said.

Following the clash, markets were closed in Lidhora town in protest, the SP said, adding additional force has been deployed in the town to control the situation.

Police later raided the house of Dinesh and recovered two guns.

So far, no arrest has been made in this regard, police said, adding a case has been registered and further investigation is on.
