Two held for carrying gelatin sticks & electric detonators

Two men were today arrested after they were found carrying 70 gelatin sticks and 30 electric detonators on a motorcycle near Kodinar in Gir Somnath district, police said.

The arrest was made by the Special Operations Group (SOG) of Gir Somnath district.

As per the preliminary probe, the accused were taking the gelatin sticks and the detonators to their village to dig a well, a police official said.

"Acting on a tip-off, the SOG sleuths intercepted the duo on Kodinar-Una highway late last night and recovered 70 gelatin sticks and 30 detonators, which they were carrying on a motorcycle," an official of Kodinar police station said.

 

The duo was identified as Manubhai Damaniya and Pimabhai Pamak, he said.

"Initial interrogation has revealed that they were carrying the explosives to Mitiyaj, their village in Kodinar taluka, to dig a well," the official further said.

An offence has been registered against Damaniya and Pamak under IPC section 286 (negligent conduct with respect to explosive substance) and relevant sections of the Explosives Act, 1884, and Explosive Substances Act, 1908, he said.
