Two labourers killed as crane falls on them

Two labourers were killed when an iron ore-laden crane fell on them at a steel factory here today, police said.

The mishap took place at the Mahamaya Ispat factory in Urla industrial area when the victims -- Rajesh Verma (30) and Jage Patel (30) -- were working near the crane, City Superintendent of Police (Urla) Rajendra Jaiswal told PTI.

A track of the crane collapsed following which a part of it fell on the duo injuring them seriously.

Doctors declared them dead when they were taken to a local hospital, Jaiswal said.

A case has been registered in this connection, he said, adding that further probe is on.
 

The interrogation of officials of the factory management was on, he added.
