Press Trust of India Coimbatore
Two maoists lodged in the central prison here today observed a fast protesting the arrest of two persons on charges of carrying a pen drive when they visited the former last week, police said.

Anup Mathew and Veeramani boycotted breakfast and lunch protesting the 'foisting' of the case against their friends.

Police had on June 12 arrested Rashid and Harihara Sharma of Kerala for allegedly attempting to pass on the pen drive to the maoists when they called on them in the prison.

Rashid and Sharma, who have been remanded to judicial custody by a court, are also lodged in the jail here.

Besides Anup and Veeramani, three other maoists, arrested here in 2015 and facing various cases in Kerala, are serving their remand in the prison here.
