Two members of a family were killed and as many injured when the two wheeler they were riding on rammed into a speeding truck in Gautam Budhh Nagar's Dadri area on Friday, police said.
The accident took place in Dadri's Luharli village when the family was headed home to Khoda village in Ghaziabad from Bulandshahr, they said.
According to the police, the deceased were identified as Monika (36) and her son Arun (2). Monika's husband Charan Singh (38) and daughter Dolly (5) were hospitalised.
"The family was riding a moped, when the truck tried to turn left to go to a fuel station and rammed into the two wheeler," a police official said.
Monika and her son were killed on the spot, while her husband and daughter have been admitted to a local hospital with serious injuries, he added.
The truck driver fled from the spot.
A case has been registered at Dadri police station against him under sections 304 (culpable homicide not amounting to murder), 338 (causing grievous hurt by act endangering life or personal safety of others) and 379 (theft) of the Indian Penal Code, the police official said.
