Two railway officials assaulted in separate incidents

In separate incidents, two Central Railway (CR) officials were today allegedly assaulted by unidentified persons at different stations in neighbouring Thane district.

Sandeep Tiwari, chief commercial inspector, was assaulted at Vithalwadi station by a person carrying unbooked luggage at around 3 pm, a CR release said.

Tiwari, who sustained injuries was admitted to a hospital. The accused was nabbed by Railway Protection Force, it said.

Similarly, a ticket checker, Avneesh Pande, was manhandled by an unidentified person at Ulhasnagar railway station at around 2.45 pm, said the release.

The accused was later nabbed and brought to Government Railway Police office at Kalyan, it said.
 

Cases have been registered in both the incidents, the release added.
