Two sisters run over by concrete mixer, father hospitalised

Two teenaged sisters today died and their father, a sub-inspector, sustained serious injuries, when the two-wheeler they were riding dashed against a concrete-mixer vehicle near Madukkarai on the outskirts today, police said.

Jayaprakash, a sub-inspector attached to Rural Crime Branch, was taking his two daughters to college when the concrete-mixer vehicle suddenly took a right turn and the two-wheeler rammed into it.

The sisters--aged 18 and 17--were caught under the wheels and died on the spot, they said.

Jayaprakash, who was thrown out of his vehicle, was seriously injured and has been admitted to a private hospital.
